MY DESTINY WINS THE ORLEANS STAKES IN DOMINANT FASHION AT DELTA DOWNS

KENTUCKY-BRED FILLY WINS HER FOURTH RACE IN A ROW

VINTON, LA. – Sam Wilensky’s My Destiny made her Delta Downs debut to showcase her talent on Friday night as she stormed home to win the $75,000 Orleans Stakes under jockey Edwin Gonzalez. The Herman Wilensky trainee was making her local debut in the race which proved to be her fourth consecutive win at four different racetracks.

My Destiny, who is owned by Sam Wilensky, broke sharply in the five-furlong affair for older fillies and mares before stalking the pace set by Sweet Temperament, who traveled the opening quarter mile in a time of 22.06 seconds. When the field entered the only turn of the race, My Destiny turned up the heat on the front runner and drew alongside as they entered the home stretch. When they straightened way, My Destiny pulled clear after going a half mile in 45.57 and was on her way to a 1-3/4 length victory with Sweet Temperament holding on for second. Sassy Beast wound up 3-1/2 lengths back in third.

The final time for My Destiny was 58.16 second. The race was contested over a fast track.

Overall, My Destiny has now won eight of 19 starts. She earned $45,000 for her win in the Orleans and now owns a career bankroll of $203,778.

Bred by Donamire Farm in the Blue Grass State, My Destiny is a 6-year-old mare by Majesticperfection, out of the Crafty Prospector mare Northern Destiny.

Sent to the gate as the race favorite at odds of 9-5, My Destiny paid $5.80 to win, $4 to place and $2.80 to show. Sweet Temperament was worth $4.80 to place and $3.80 to show. Sassy Beast returned $6.40 to show.

Delta Downs will close out its race week on Saturday night with another nine-race program that starts at 4:55 pm. The highlight of the card is the $75,000 Sam’s Town Stakes for older horses competing at five furlongs.
