2010-2011 Thoroughbred Race Dates
Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel is preparing for its 2010-2011 Thoroughbred season. The 88-day meeting will begin on Wednesday, October 27th and run through Saturday, March 27th.
Race fans will notice a few changes in the schedule this year . The track will conduct live racing each Wednesday through Saturday starting at 6:05 p.m., however a few Sundays have also been added to the mix. Afternoon cards beginning at 3:05 p.m. on February 20th, 27th, as well as March 6th, 13th and 20th will provide patrons another chance to watch and wager on weekends this year.
The track has also changed its schedule for the upcoming holiday season. There will be no live racing the week of Christmas. The last live card before the break will take place on Saturday, December 18th and the first program following Christmas will be run on Wednesday, December 29th. The hiatus will allow horsemen the chance to enjoy the Christmas holiday with their familes and prepare for the second half of the meeting.
Delta Downs will once again offer a stellar stakes program this year. Although the official stakes schedule has yet to be released, the date for the season's biggest event is already known. On Saturday, November 20th, Boyd Gaming's Delta Jackpot Stakes (Grade III) will enjoy its 8th renewal as a fresh field of 2-year-olds hope to stamp their ticket to the 2011 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. In 2009 it was the Todd Pletcher trainee, Rule (pictured above), who won the Jackpot with highly acclaimed jockey John Velazquez in the saddle.
